Meknes is a city in northern Morocco. It was built in the 11th century and was the capital in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is one of the four imperial cities in the country and is also known as the "City of a Hundred Towers". There are many historical sites in the city, such as the Mansur Gate, the Royal Stables and Granaries. Its ancient city area is a world cultural heritage, and there are also ruins of the ancient Roman city of Volubilis nearby.
