Santa Marta is a city on the Caribbean coast of northern Colombia and the capital of Magdalena Province. It is the earliest Spanish settlement in Colombia, built in 1525, and is the second oldest city in South America. The economy is mainly based on tourism and trade. There are beautiful beaches, tropical rainforests, and memorials related to Simon Bolivar, and rich cultural and natural landscapes.
