Loja is the capital of Loja Province in Ecuador. It is located on the upper reaches of the Zamora River, at an altitude of 2,225 meters, with a population of approximately 68,000. Loha was founded in 1546 and was repeatedly damaged by earthquakes before being rebuilt. Surrounding here are the main distribution centers for sugarcane, coffee, grains, cinchona cream and cattle. There are also minerals such as gold, silver, copper and kaolin nearby. Loha has industries such as leather tanning, textile, food processing and wood processing. It is the terminal of the Pan-American Highway and there is an airport in the west of the city. The city is home to a university and a music college, and is known as the music capital of Ecuador, brimming with artistic atmosphere.
