The American Legation Museum is located in the old city of Tangier, Morocco. It is the first property of the United States overseas. It was donated to the United States by the Moroccan Sultan in 1821 and served as the American Legation for 140 years. The museum contains ancient maps, oil paintings, etc. The architecture combines Moroccan and American styles and is a symbol of the history, culture and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
