Located in Jamaica's capital city of Kingston, Hope Gardens was established in 1873 by the British colonial authorities and is one of the oldest tropical botanical gardens in the Caribbean. The 20-hectare park cultivates more than 1,000 species of tropical plants, including palms, orchids and bromeliads. The Botanic Garden is designed as a “global garden”, with thematic zones such as Chinese, Japanese and Italian, showcasing a variety of horticultural styles. It is also an important ecological education base in Jamaica, focusing on the protection of native plants and biodiversity. The garden is equipped with greenhouses, walking trails and bird-watching areas, making it an ideal place for visitors to get close to nature and experience the tropical flavor.
