Egeskov Castle is located in the southern part of Funen Island, Denmark. Built in 1554, it is the best preserved Renaissance-style waterside castle in Europe. Built on oak pile foundations, it consists of two long buildings connected by thick double walls, with secret staircases and wells. The castle gardens are stunning and there are several themed museums.
