The Chapel Bridge, one of the most famous landmarks in Lucerne, Switzerland, spans the River Reuss and is about 200 meters long, making it the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe. Built in 1333, the bridge is adorned with a 17th-century triangular ceiling painting that illustrates the history of Switzerland and the legends of Lucerne. The octagonal water tower next to the bridge, which was used for defense, prison and storage, was severely damaged by fire in 1993, but was subsequently restored to its original condition. Today, the Pont du Capel is not only a destination for photographers, but also for tourists who want to discover the culture of Lucerne.
