The Beagle Channel is located in the island group of Tierra del Fuego at the southern tip of South America, and is about 240 kilometers long in an east-west direction and 5 to 13 kilometers wide. In the north is the main island of Tierra del Fuego, and in the south are the small islands of Navarino and Oeste. The eastern part of the strait is the border between Chile and Argentina, while the western part belongs to Chile, and was named after Darwin's expedition on the “Beagle” in 1834. It is an important waterway to the Antarctic and a popular spot for tourists to visit by boat, where the famous “World's End Lighthouse” is located.
