Igreja de São José de Ribamar, located in the state of Maranhao, Brazil, is a historic Catholic church dedicated to St. Joseph. According to legend, a Portuguese mariner prayed for St. Joseph's blessing when he was caught in a storm and promised to build a chapel if he was safe. Later, he brought a statue of St. Joseph and built this church. With its simple architecture and baroque altar, the church is a place of pilgrimage and healing for local believers. It consists of two towers, has four elevators, operates for 30 seconds at a time, carries 27 passengers, has a ticket price of R$0.15, transports more than 33,000 passengers per day, and has been classified as a Brazilian National Historic Heritage Site.
