Itaipu Dam is currently the second largest hydroelectric power station in the world, built jointly by Brazil and Paraguay. It is located on the Paraná River, has 20 generating units with a total installed capacity of 14 million kilowatts and an annual power generation of up to 90 billion kilowatt-hours, and is an important energy supply base for the two countries.
