The Flower Clock is one of the city's most iconic landmarks, located at the foot of Cerro Castillo hill, facing Caleta Abarca beach. Built in 1962 to commemorate Chile's hosting of the World Cup, its clock face is made up of a variety of flowers that change colors throughout the seasons. The clock's hands are 8 to 10 feet long, and the original mechanism, manufactured by Favag of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, has been upgraded with a GPS control system to ensure precise operation. The clock is not only a popular photo spot for tourists, but also a symbol of Viña del Mar's reputation as the “City of Gardens”.
