Located in the historic center of Cali, the Enrique Buenaventura Municipal Theater, formerly the Cali Municipal Theater, was listed as a national monument in 1982. It was built and opened in November 1927. It is a Creole classical style building. It was renovated in 1953 due to expansion. It can now accommodate 1,200 spectators and still retains the original curtain. Various cultural activities such as concerts and ballet performances are often held here.
