Cusco is a city in southeastern Peru and was once the capital of the Inca Empire. It is located in the Andes Mountains, with an average altitude of 3,400 meters. There are many buildings from the Inca period and the Spanish colonial period in the city. It was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983 and is an important tourist destination, receiving more than 2 million tourists every year.
