The Chen Clan Academy was planned and built in the 14th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1888) and was officially completed in the 20th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1894), which took seven years. It was jointly built by the Chen family from 72 counties in Guangdong Province at that time.
