The Ribat of Monastir is a famous attraction in Monastir, Tunisia. Built in 796, it is the oldest Islamic defensive structure built by Arab conquerors in the Maghreb. It has undergone many renovations and has a unique architecture with spiral staircases, watchtowers and two mosques. It also hosts international festivals and has a rich museum collection.
