Located about 50 kilometers northwest of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Dujiangyan is a World Heritage Site and an ancient water conservancy project. Built by Li Bing and his son in 256 BC, it is still in use today. It effectively solved the problem of flooding of the Minjiang River by diverting, dividing and draining water, secured irrigation for the surrounding farmland and promoted the agricultural development of the Chengdu Plain. Dujiangyan is not only a masterpiece of water conservancy technology, but also a fusion of natural and humanistic wisdom, and is regarded as “the miracle of ancient water conservancy”.
