Sapporo Nakajima Park is located in the city center. The approximately 24 hectares of green space have more than 5,000 ginkgo trees, pine trees and cherry trees, making it an oasis in the city. The park is dotted with iris ponds, streams and Japanese gardens, as well as important cultural properties such as Hoheikan and Hachisōan, exuding a historical atmosphere. The Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara often hosts concerts, and the Observatory regularly opens telescopes for stargazing. The four seasons are distinct: spring cherry blossoms, summer breezes, autumn leaves, and winter skiing and fitness are all suitable.
