Wat Chedi Luang is located in the center of the ancient city of Chiang Mai, Thailand. It was built by King Samangma in 1411. "Chaidi Luang" means "big pagoda" and is named after the large Lanna-style pagoda in the temple. The pagoda combines various styles and was once as high as 98 meters. After earthquakes and wars, only the 42-meter-high pagoda base and the first floor remain. There are also wax statues of eminent monks and the city pillar in the temple. It is an important Buddhist holy place and tourist attraction in Chiang Mai.
