The Catedral Metropolitana de San Sebastián is located in the September 14th Square in the center of Cochabamba, Bolivia, and is one of the most important religious buildings in the city. The church was built in 1701 on the site of an original 16th-century church, blending Spanish Baroque with native Andean styles. Its Latin cross plan, stone and adobe construction, as well as its brick dome and ceramic decorations, demonstrate a unique architectural aesthetic. In 1975, with the elevation of the Diocese of Cochabamba to the rank of Archdiocese, the church was designated as a Metropolitan Cathedral. In 2012, the Bolivian Senate classified it as a National Cultural Heritage Site.
