Mekelle is the capital of the Tigray State of Ethiopia, located on the northern plateau at an altitude of 2,254 meters. It is the second largest city in the country and the economic, cultural and political center of the north. It is a trading center for grains, cotton, etc. It has Mekelle University, as well as cliffs, rock churches and other unique landscapes.
