Cochabamba is located in the Andean valley in central Bolivia, at an altitude of about 2,570 meters above sea level, and is the fourth largest city in the country. Thanks to its mild climate throughout the year, it is known as the “City of Eternal Spring”. Its name is derived from the Quechua word for “lake plain”. Cochabamba is an important agricultural center in Bolivia, producing grains, potatoes, coffee, sugar cane, cacao and fruit. The city is also known for its rich cultural heritage and historical events, such as the “Water Wars” of 2000, which became a symbol of global opposition to the privatization of water resources.
