Miagao Church, officially known as the Church of St. Thomas de Villanueva, is a landmark building in Miagao Town, Iloilo Province, Philippines. Built between 1787 and 1797, the church combines Baroque style with local Philippine elements. Its fortress-like appearance was used to defend against pirate attacks. Its front facade is decorated with a relief of St. Christopher carrying the baby Jesus through a coconut tree, showing a unique fusion of religion and local culture. The golden altar in the church is gorgeous, and the arched roof is supported by no columns, showing excellent architectural skills. In 1993, Miagao Church was listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO and is a must-visit place for exploring Philippine history and art.
