Salvo Palace is an iconic skyscraper located at the intersection of Avenida 18 de Julio and Plaza Independencia in Montevideo, Uruguay. Designed by Italian architect Mario Palanti and completed in 1928, the building stands approximately 100 meters tall and was the tallest in Latin America at the time. Originally intended as a hotel, it now houses offices and private residences. The building's eclectic architectural style combines elements of neo-Gothic and Art Deco, making it a significant landmark in Montevideo's skyline. Notably, Palacio Salvo was built on the site where Gerardo Matos Rodríguez's famous tango "La Cumparsita" was first performed in 1917; today, the Tango Museum of Montevideo operates within the building, celebrating this rich musical heritage.
