Geographic Overview

Santa Lucia Mountain is only 11 miles from the Pacific Ocean at its closest point and has the steepest coastal slopes in the 48 states of the United States. The highest point of the mountain range is Junipero Serra Peak, which is 5,862 feet above sea level; Cone Peak is 5,158 feet above sea level, which is the highest peak closest to the ocean in the 48 states of the continental United States, about 5 kilometers from the coast.
