The Philosopher's Path is about 1.8 to 2 kilometers long and winds along the small canal of Lake Biwa. It starts at Ginkaku-ji Temple and ends near Nanzen-ji Temple. Cherry blossoms are planted on both sides. In spring, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, which is romantic and picturesque; in autumn, the red leaves are also beautiful. This path is named after the philosopher Kitaro Nishida, who walked and meditated every day. On the way, you can visit quiet temples such as Honen-in Temple and Eikan-do Temple, as well as cafes and small shops. It is a great route to experience the elegance of the ancient capital and the changing seasons.
