Higashiyama is one of the 11 wards of Kyoto City, Japan, and is located east of the Kamogawa River on the southeast side of the city, with an area of 7.46 square kilometers and a population of about 36,000 people. There are many historical monuments in the district, including the birthplace of Higashiyama culture and world heritage sites such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Shrine. The area is easily accessible by public transportation, with many railroad lines running through it. There are also bustling neighborhoods such as Gion, where tradition and modernity are blended in a unique atmosphere.
