Horyu-ji Temple is located in Nara, Japan. It was built in 607 AD and is the oldest existing temple in Japan and the oldest existing wooden building complex in the world. Its main buildings, such as the Golden Hall and the Five-Storied Pagoda, are deeply influenced by the architecture of the Southern and Northern Dynasties in China. It is an outstanding representative of Japan's Asuka culture and was listed as a World Cultural Heritage in 1993.
